Illinois Drill Team Association 2008-2009 Coaches’ Forum

IDTA will be hosting seven meetings throughout the state to inform coaches about our organization’s policies and guidelines.

Meetings will be from 9:00 – 11:30.

While attendance to one of these meetings is required by one coach from each school for qualification for any post-season contests, every coach from every team is encouraged to attend to hear the information first hand.

Topics of discussion will include:

  • A brief history of IDTA
  • An overview of voted changes within our organization
  • Membership guidelines
  • Category Requirements/Guidelines – updated descriptions!!
  • Score sheet interpretations:  General Effect, Execution, and Penalty
  • Special Events Programs:  Showcase of Stars and Scholarships
  • How the IHSA Spirit Rules really affect dance/flag teams!

Each team will receive the IDTA Constitution.  If coaches need a copy of the IHSA Spirit Rules book, contact your athletic director or the IHSA office.  The 2007-2008 Spirit Rules book is in effect for 2 years.  Changes/additions will be discussed during the Forum.

Per IHSA requirements, only one representative of the school’s spirit coaching staff (cheer, poms, flag, or drill) needs to attend an IHSA Spirit Rules Meeting.  It is not necessary for a coach of each team to attend.
