Membership

The IDTA is open to everyone with no limitations to membership for reason of race, creed, color, sex or national origin. An IDTA membership is valid from July 1 to June 30. The IDTA offers many different membership plans from Team to Individual. We are sure that there is a place for you in the IDTA.

    • Open to any high school team in Illinois upon payment of dues and receipt of all necessary forms whose school is a member of the Illinois High School Association.
    • Willing to abide by the rules set forth by the Illinois High School Association and the Illinois Drill Team Association
    • Limited to students currently in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. (If a team is in violation of this, the team will be disqualified and lose its membership.)
    • Membership fee for Varsity teams is $75.00 per team and needs to be postmarked by November 30. NO MEMBERSHIPS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THAT DATE. Cost includes Spirit Book and Rule Interp meeting.
    • Membership fees are non-refundable.
    • All memberships must be postmarked by November 30.
    • Must send membership application, eligibility list, fees and team acknowledgement of consent, injury, publicity and sportsmanship forms before an application can be processed.
    • Incomplete applications mailed to IDTA past the deadline will not be accepted.
    • In order to qualify for Super Sectional and/or State, membership forms and fees must be postmarked by November 30.
    • Each team is allowed one roster change (Re-Declaration) before the first Friday in February. As long as a team floors 75% of the reported team size, the team will never be penalized.
    • All re-declarations must be mailed or faxed to the Membership Coordinator a minimum of two (2) weeks BEFORE the contest the team plans to attend. No re-declarations will be accepted after the first Friday in February.
    • Additional re-declaration requests will be assesed a $25.00 processing fee.
    • All Varsity teams must submit a TYPED resume, eligibility list and Team Photo to the Contest Coordinator, POSTMARKED BY JANUARY 15 of each year, even if you do not re-declare. No resumes will be accepted after January 15.
    • Division placement will be based on school enrollment as reported to the IHSA. (CLASS A - enrollment between 1 and 699) - (CLASS AA - enrollment between 700 and 1799) - (CLASS AAA - enrollment from 1800 and over)
    • All member schools are required to attend a rules interpretation meeting EVERY YEAR! Member schools must have at least one (1) adult representative at a rules interpretation meeting. (This representative need not be the Head Coach.)
    • Failure to attend will result in that team being ineligible to qualify for IDTA JH/JV Finals, Super Sectional and/or State Competitions.
    • Each fall, IDTA member schools will receive a calendar of events and rules and regulations.
    • Each team's membership will include the One (1) Head Coach and One (1) Assistant Coach. Additional Assistant Coaches may become members at a cost of $10.00.
    • Each Team will have one (1) vote between all the coaches.
    • Member coaches are entitled to A) Receive service pins, B) Run for Office (if requirements are met), C) Admitted free to invitational contests and D) Receive Mailed HeartBeats.

    • Willing to abide by the rules set forth by the Illinois Drill Team Association
    • Membership fee is $50.00 per team for the entire year. Cost includes Spirit Book and Rule Interp Meeting.
    • No memberships will be accepted after November 30.
    • Must send membership application, eligibility list, fees and team acknowledgement of consent, injury, publicity and sportsmanship forms before an application can be processed.
    • Membership applications and fees must be postmarked at least two (2) weeks prior to the first contest you in which you plan to participate.
