2008 Pilot Programs

IDTA is excited to announce the debut of three pilot programs for the 2007-2008 competition season!  Each program will be reviewed at the end of the season, and based on the success of each one, may be permanently added to the 2008-2009 list of IDTA competition categories! 

“Steppers”

A division for Step Teams.  This pilot program will be available at the Navy Pier and Downers Grove North regional competitions.  To be eligible, a team must be recognized as a high school Step Team.  

Teams entering one of the contests providing this division must complete the IDTA consent forms in order to participate.  The entry fee will be the same as any IDTA member team entering one of the contests hosting this division.

“Star*ters”

A division within IDTA for beginner/novice competitors.  The purpose of this pilot program is to offer a new division in IDTA that would allow teams with limited dance experience to compete at our regional competitions.  For the pilot program this division will be available at the following contests:  Clinton, Pittsfield, and T F South.

Teams must choose one of the IDTA categories:  Pom, Pom Dance, Dance, Hip Hop, Kick, Lyrical/Contemporary, Tall Flag, Short Flag or Color Guard.  JV or Varsity teams can enter this division.  The teams entered in this division will only be split into JV and Varsity.

The routine must follow IDTA time requirements of 2 – 3 minutes in length. 

Teams entering one of the contests providing this division must complete the IDTA consent forms in order participate.  The entry fee will be $60.00 – the same as any IDTA member team entering one of the contests hosting this division.

“Solos”

A division where soloists can showcase their individual talent. The student MUST be an active member of the school’s VARSITY dance/pom/flag team, but the team does not have to be attending the regional competitions which are hosting this opportunity.  This division will be available at the Downers Grove North and Highland contests.

Soloists may perform any style of routine, 1 ½ to 2 minutes in length.  All IDTA rules will apply regarding costuming and illegal moves. 
Individuals entering this division must fill out a registration form and pay an entry fee of  $25.00. Note—space may be limited due to time constraints of the contest, so enter early!  Contestants will be registered based on the order of receipt of forms and payment.
First through fifth place trophies will be awarded!
