November 2007 Team of the Month
Congratulations to the
St. Charles East High School Colorguard

November’s “Team of the Month” is the St. Charles East Colorguard from St. Charles East High School. This outstanding team consists of 13 Junior Varsity and 13 Varsity members. They are under the direction of Head Coach Johnni Zabka & Assistant Coach Brittany LaManna.
The Junior Varsity team performs at all JV school functions and sporting events. The Varsity team performs at Varsity sporting events, as well as promotes school spirit at additional events, such as freshman orientation, pep assemblies, and “Spirit” fun events at community functions. Both teams had the opportunity to perform at a Kane County Cougars Baseball Game during the Summer!

The St. Charles East Colorguard gives back to the community by
participating in after school enrichment programs for area elementary
schools. This year, the team is supporting Coach Zabka in the
“Kick-a-thon, Kick for Cancer”. This flag team raises all of their
money themselves by participating in numerous fundraisers such as plant
sales, car washes, the St. Charles Scarecrow Festival, and the bake
sale, spaghetti dinner and auction. They are supported by a great
Parent Booster Club!
St. Charles East High School has
established several activities that promote team spirit between the JV
and Varsity teams and recognize the efforts of those who support them.
These traditions include team discussions and team building activities,
a kick-off breakfast for the Varsity team presented by school
administration, and a dress rehearsal for parents before the state
competition.

The Junior Varsity’s goal is to perform a Lyrical Flag routine for the first time! The Varsity’s goal is to have three qualifying routines for Super Sectionals and also attend State. They plan to accomplish these tasks by working hard while having fun and feeling proud of their performances!
